India Harvey, born and raised in a small town in Georgia, is a painter and creative environment builder. Though a southern girl at heart, she grew restless and sought to discover the love of the city. New York City called her name, so she answered. Finding that there is a unfortunate gap between the art of museum-like exhibition (design with a worthy story but often dry delivery) and dramatic installation art (consuming experiential design often void of meaning), India seeks that something in between. Her hopeful journey as an artist and person is becoming one who can simply tell good stories, recognizing her voice may sound a bit different. Her inaudible, storytelling voice lies in building bold, experiential and engulfing atmospheres that whisk away a participant into another’s story.
In 2008, she graduated with a BA in Biblical Studies and a minor in Studio Art. She currently works as a Trader Joe’s Sign Artist in Manhattan while her secret identity is a story teller in the three dimensions. She derives her inspiration from her past travels to far, far away places, her tight knit community, her faith in God, her ridiculously creative family, and the Georgia woods she grew up in.
